According to a survey done by PetFinder a few years ago, most hard-to-adopt shelter animals are made up of senior pets. Sitting in the shelters, senior pets don't seem as bubbly as younger pets, but there are many reasons to consider adopting a senior cat or dog.

Unlike puppies who need to be taught manners, house-training and taught not to be destructive, most senior pets spent most of their lives living with a family and have learned these things. At some point they may have even been to obedience school.
